Interview with Dan Weigold, Columbia City Council At-Large Candidate

Why are you running for City Council At-Large?
I truly care for the people of Columbia City. My 20 years of experience working for both City Utilities as the City Drafting Technician and Whitley County Government as the GIS Coordinator, will give me a better perspective on issues facing our City.
I view this position as a public servant not a politician. Being a member of the Boy Scouts of America instilled in me how important it is to involve myself in service, to the community. My commitment to the youth of our community span’s over 20 years as umpire, coach of little league teams, assistant with the boy’s basketball program and currently a Varsity Assistant with the High School Softball program.
The people of Columbia City have been absolutely terrific to me. I look forward to serving Columbia City in a different way by working hard to win the City Council At-Large seat in November.
What are the most important issues facing Columbia City today?
Tax Spending:
By extensive research and a strong desire to look at the needs verses wants, we will be able to keep the spending under control.
Economic Development:
Improving our infrastructure information, by making it accessible to our Department Heads, the Mayor and the Economic Development Corporation, we will be able to do a better job of marketing the assets of our City.
Communication:
I hope people feel comfortable coming to me with their concerns and understand that my willingness to listen and my work ethic to serve them will give them a voice in our Government.
Do you have a favorite hang out or restaurant?
Well, I enjoy eating, so it’s very difficult to pick a favorite restaurant and I thoroughly enjoy Bones Theater. But I love sporting events so I would have to say my favorite hang out is wherever there is a sporting event going on, like Morsches Park, our local Gymnasiums and Football fields.
Why are you a Republican?
Because, I believe in the values the Republican Party stands for.
