State Representative Matt Bell Announces Re-Election Campaign

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BELL DECLARES CANDIDACY FOR 83RD DISTRICT

INDIANAPOLIS- This morning, State Representative Matt Bell (District 83, Republican) officially announced his candidacy in the May Republican primary. This morning, Rep. Bell filed paperwork in the office of Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita asking that his name be placed on the Republican primary ballot.

“I look forward to campaigning over the next few months. It will provide me with a wonderful opportunity to share my vision for our community with thousands of voters, and to hear their ideas as well,” Bell said.

Rep. Bell was appointed to the General Assembly in May of 2005 to represent the 83rd House District, and was reelected in 2006. The district includes portions of Allen, Noble, and Whitley County. Representative Bell serves as the Ranking Minority Member of the Public Policy Committee and also serves on the Labor and employment Committee and the family Children and Human Affairs Committee.

“During my three years in the Indiana General Assembly, the State of Indiana has made great steps forward. We have erased a $700 million dollar structural deficit and built a $1 billion surplus without raising taxes. We passed the most sweeping telecommunications reform in the nation which has brought high speed internet access to communities that had never been offered service before and has spurred unprecedented job growth. We instituted a market driven state health insurance program which brings needed coverage to hundreds of thousands of Hoosiers. In the coming weeks we will provide bold, immediate and permanent property tax reform that will help insure a fair, consistent, and equitable property tax system for Hoosiers.”

Bell, who also serves as the executive Director of LEAP of Noble County, Inc. (the Literacy Empowering and Advocating Project), is eager to build on the experience he has gained during his three years in the legislature.

“It is an honor to serve the 83rd District as its State Representative. We have accomplished great things for Indiana during my tenure in the Statehouse and there is much more to do to insure that Northeast Indian is a vibrant community marked by the promise of prosperity for any who would strive for it. I have led toward that vision and will continue to work to insure the promise of a bright future for my community.”
